Post-Placement Adoption Support
Adoption doesn't end at placement—and neither does our support. We walk alongside birth parents before, during, and long after placement, offering compassionate counselling, resources, and ongoing care whenever you need it.
Newborn
After the baby is born, and while you are still in the hospital, the Agency hires a lawyer (for you) who will come and review the legal document specific to your child’s adoption. The main document is called “Consent by a Guardian for Adoption) which essentially is where you are legally consenting to the adoption. Once this Consent is signed, you will receive a copy. You have ten days to change your mind (this is called revoke or revocation). If you revoke your consent, you must provide this in writing to the Agency social worker.
Once you are discharged from the hospital, the adoptive parents will take baby home (if baby is ready to leave). Your social worker will stay connected with you for emotional support and guidance with the open adoption. We are here to support you.
The adoption application for the Court generally takes to 8 to 12 months by the time the adoption is finalized. A judge will review the paperwork and the adoptive parents are notified by mail when the adoption is granted. No one attends court unless someone contests (fights) the adoption.
Infant, toddler, or young child
